The Countdown

So I have how many days left? Oh man. Four. And a few concentration pieces to go and photos to take. But I'm really excited because I think I can get my first piece done tomorrow! Initially I wanted to do a chaotic scene of the Alice in Wonderland tea party with the tablecloth being pulled off and the tea set flying around. But then I thought it would be a lot easier, and different, to do a picture of a little girl having tea with her stuffed animals. I had my neighbor Isabelle come over and model for me with my old rabbit and bear, who, thanks to the old WOA project, had a top hat to wear. Above is the shot I'm using. Again, I started out thinking I would do this in pastel and make it fairly realistic, but then I started getting really lose and the picture became more cartoony. I really liked breaking the image down, and I thought the style would fit the content, which is why I intend to animate the photo and then do watercolors over top. I've never worked with water colors, but I'm really excited although it may be a struggle!

Winta Breakkkk

I love the snow. And making breakfast food all the time, like pancakes, waffles and french toast. Mmhhhmmm. For some reason the holidays remind me of breakfast. But they also remind me of why I love December. NO SCHOOL!!! No school means Hot Cocoa, Elf and Christmas Tree shopping? Does this really make sense? No, but what I am trying to get at is that although I am so excited for the holidays, I also realize I need to get cracking on all of the holiday projects. LIKE the 100 photos... I definitely went to Portland this Saturday in hopes of getting some good photos. I'm not sure how to go about taking them, whether I should plan out a group of photos I want to take for each category, or just take a bunch of them at once w/ the elements and principles of art in mind and go from there. I know what I'm not going to do.... WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE. Unfortunately the photos I did get this weekend were few in number BECAUSE my camera is poopy. GET THIS. I saw a bride and groom walking by, hand in hand, looking AWESOME and of course my camera refused to focus/work. Boo. These are some of the pictures I have so far...Note the last one is the epic fail

Giving thanks for Thanksgivings break...

So because of my tendency to work painstakingly slow and put everything off until the last minute, I have decided it's time I started my second piece in order to get all my work done. I am really scared of taking photos for some reason, and I am really new to it, so going out this weekend was kind of a struggle. But I ended up getting some ideas for what I wanted to do, although I need to go out and take some more in order to finalize and make my idea concrete. I want this image to be in charcoal and blue pastel of Alice looking into the thistle in search of the white rabbit. My friend had a dress that was perfect for the shot, but I am still trying to think how I want the thistle to look. Here are some shots I got

this month

I know this is bad, but I have yet to start my first piece of art. On Friday I spent my lovely day off in the art room, which was really fun, finishing my self-portrait. I'm wondering if there is a way to figure out how long what type of project will take me, because I work so painstakingly slow. I really want to make some quality pieces (duh) but I also know I struggle to get things done on time. I guess it's discipline, but I really want to find a way to do the best I can in the most efficient way possible. Anyways, that's my post, bordering a whiny diary entry, but I had to do something. If there are any suggestions on how to work the most efficiently, or tips on predicting how long a project will take, let me know! Unfortunately I feel like it's pretty subjective and all about the artist so maybe I'm just destined to figure it out on my own. Anyways , favorite new video thanks to MckyB/the Heymanns http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_sfnQDr1-o

INDECISIVE

Gahhh!
I have no idea what I want to do for my focus. Honestly, I am the most indecisive person ever and this is just another choice I am going to struggle to make. As of now I am thinking about Alice in Wonderland and doing something with Anatomy, the problem is I'm not sure how I would incorporate my style into either. With Alice in Wonderland, I feel like I have struggled to really think outside the box, and the more interesting/original ideas I have generated are super difficult. Gah. I am struggling. But with anatomy, I am not sure how I would really push the boundaries on that focus. Especially since I'm not taking Human Phys as planned, which means it doesn't resonate with me as much, because I'm not constantly around it right now.
But if you have any suggestions... feel free.
